Hogsteen
Hogsteen is a cost 3 card in Plants on Fire. Rarity: Legendary.
- Ready: Summons 2/2/2/4 1/2/3★ Temp Steenhogs that inherit 25% ATK.
- Temp
- Only works for a single round after which the effect is lost
- Ready
- Effect triggers when both players are ready
In practice
Hogsteen summons 2 temporary Minions every Ready (4 at 4★), at the same ★ as Hogsteen itself and with 25% of its ATK. They only appear if there is an empty tile, and the builder reads it as an engine with early defense that gets in the way in Boss rounds. ATK 8, attacks a random enemy every 2 s. Tier B in PvP. It drops from Harvest Pots, Recruitment and the S-Harvest Farm.

How star fusion works
2 copies at the same ★ merge into 1 copy at the next ★. 4★ only exists in Rumble Chess. In regular Co-op, your partner's Minions get a blue star and don't merge with yours. How it works
- Attack target: a random enemy (not the closest one).
- Summons 2 per round.
- The Minions it creates only appear if there is an empty slot on the board.

Card analysis
What this card does inside a deck, from the deck builder's data. It is the same reading the simulator uses to score decks.
Strengths
- Works as Engine and Early defense in a deck.
Weaknesses
- Merging is the plan: it gets stronger with every promotion or needs a star level.
- Careful in Boss rounds: its effect can get in the way.
Role in the deck
What it plays with
- Feeds Summon to the engine.
Copies and merging

- You can afford 2 copy(ies) (2★) by R1.
- You can afford 4 copy(ies) (3★) by R2.

Works well with
Pairs the community and I find good together. The notes come from my own research and player guides (written in English).
The temporary Mangosteen Pigs summoned by Hogsteen feed Chomper.
Archmandrake boosts the ATK of Hogsteen's temporary Mangosteen Pigs.
Every Hogsteen summon triggers Ginger Honcho, which grants Temp ATK to 3 other random Minions.
The temporary Mangosteen Pigs Hogsteen summons get +2 Temp ATK from Sir Rose.
Hogsteen's synergy note names "Garlic" (Garlic Brigade) alongside Sir Rose, Ginger Honcho, Archmandrake and Chomper.
Hogsteen and Cabby Trainer appear together as the backbone of any summon deck, both filling the board with temporary Minions early.
Hogsteen fills the board with Minions, and Violet Magus fires extra missiles for each Minion on the field based on its star rank (official text).
What the community says
BUsable, has a deck
Summons stronger boars with each star and feeds Chomper. In PvP it's locked into that deck.

Builds using this card
Zerg Rush / Summon (Trovão)
Floods the board with Temp summons that keep growing. Strong up to about 1,100 Trophies, per Reddit reports.
Violet Magus + Headless Jack
Violet Magus deals the damage while Headless Jack turns the HP you lost early into ATK and holds the front line.
Summon deck (official guide)
The deck the game team itself published: Cabby Trainer and Hogsteen fill the board with Temp summons, and Chomper devours them to grow.
Depressão (NoControlTower)
Summon rush from the NoControlTower channel: three Hogsteen on wave 1 flood the rival's side, Shroomurai clears yours and Tomato Twister grows with every kill. Closes before R9.
Chomper (NoControlTower)
NoControlTower's favorite deck: two 3★ Cabby Trainers deliver the 8 summons a 3★ Chomper devours, Ginger Honcho grows on every summon and Apple Sheriff holds the first waves.
Turnipette + Guaca Sage (Japanese guide)
A climbing deck from a Japanese guide: Turnipette grows on its own and holds the early game, and Guaca Sage, frozen in the Shop, gets ATK from Azure Astrologer and comes in strong.
Frozen Guaca Sage + Tomato Twister (JitteryKennon)
A slower deck. Azure Astrologer buffs a frozen Guaca Sage in the Shop every round, and Tomato Twister deals the damage with Berrinetta's help.
Pomblaster + Berrinetta (JitteryKennon)
Simple plan: Pomblaster and Berrinetta handle the front line, and Peanut Page keeps Pomblaster growing.
Violet Magus + Prof. Nutter (JitteryKennon)
The deck he uses to explain his Engine, DPS Kit and Support method. Violet Magus fires an extra missile for each Minion on the field with her ★ rank.
Club Race 2/3: Black Market Vault (Summon)
Deck 2 of the Club Race set, for the Black Market Vault. It's the official Summon deck: summons fill the board without buying, and buying is what costs ATK in this phase.
