Almost everything you earn in Plants on Fire comes from three places: Battle Pass missions, Ranked Trophies and club modes like the Club Points Race. This guide explains each one based on the game's official tutorial and shows, with numbers from the wiki deck builder, why climbing in trophies changes which deck works for you.
HOW EACH ONE WORKS
- Battle Pass missions: daily, weekly and seasonal. Completing them gives Honor Medals, which unlock Pass rewards. Finishing enough dailies in one day gives an extra prize, and weeklies work the same way per week.
- Mastery Missions: ask you to fight with specific Minions, and many ask you to buy a number of copies during the match. They give Gold, and completing enough of them gives bonus Diamonds.
- Ranked matches: wins give Trophies, which unlock Glory Track rewards. With the Win Streak Trophy unlocked, consecutive wins give extra Trophies, and a loss resets the streak.
- Harvest Pots: up to 3 per day, unlocked by playing Ranked. On the wiki, most cards list Harvest Pots among their sources.
- Captain HP: goes up with Trophies. More trophies, more health in every match.
IF YOU'RE JUST STARTING: THE ORDER THAT PAYS OFF
1. Every day, play Ranked until you unlock all 3 Harvest Pots. They come every day and cost nothing.
2. Do the dailies that come naturally from playing. Don't switch decks just for a mastery mission unless it asks for a card you already use.
3. Play for a win streak when you have time for several matches in a row. Stopping in the middle of a good streak loses extra Trophies.
4. Spend Gold leveling the cards in your main deck, not spread across the collection. The where to get each card guide shows where each comes from.
5. Some cards only show up after a trophy threshold. Each card page shows the number. A few examples from the wiki: Alchemush unlocks at 200, Sir Rose at 300, Peanut Page at 400, Bardcore Onion at 550, Orange Bros and Archmandrake at 1,800, Cashew Sage at 2,000, Headless Jack at 2,400, DandeLion at 2,600 and Boom Shroom at 2,800.
Common mistake: assuming a creator's deck from a video will work at your card levels and HP. Test it in the deck builder with your own levels first.
FOR TOP PLAYERS: HP CHANGES THE DECK
The wiki deck builder works out the best deck of each style for two Captain HP values. The prebuilt decks from Oct 21 show how much health changes the score (0 to 100):
- Promotion: 43 with 105 HP and 81 with 150. It's the style that depends most on health, because it grows slowly and has to survive the early waves.
- Rush (summons with Hogsteen, Cabby Trainer and Joe Tycoon): 74 with 105 HP and 90 with 150.
- Economy (Dragon Hoarder and Eggydjinn): 76 and 81.
- Low HP (Headless Jack): 76 with 105 HP and 71 with 150. It's the only one that gets worse with more health, because Headless Jack gains ATK for every 10% HP missing, and with 150 HP it takes longer to get there.
The wiki's read: with few trophies, low-HP and economy decks are the safest bets. As HP goes up, promotion and rush pull ahead. The simulator tier list and the best PvP decks help you choose.
CLUB POINTS RACE (THE OLD BOSS BATTLE)
Since Oct 27, the club's weekly Boss Battle is the Club Points Race (official notice, Oct 22): 3 Giant Boss stages a week, with no difficulty selection, each with a modifier that changes every week. The Giant Boss rules below come from the official Boss Battle tutorial, and the videos from the Race's first week show the same Shield and HP bars:
- The Giant Boss stays for 9 rounds, and you have to protect your Captain the whole time.
- If you empty the Boss's Shield Bar in a round, it doesn't attack that round. If you don't, the hit is heavy.
- If you empty its HP Bar, it becomes enraged: more dangerous, and worth more Points.
- Surviving all 9 rounds gives every Point. Falling before the last round ends the challenge and costs a lot of Points.
- Points unlock rewards during the week and count for the Leaderboard. Your final placement sends prizes to your Inbox.
How to score more (wiki analysis): breaking the Shield every round comes first, because one Boss hit can end the challenge. Enraging the Boss only pays off if your deck can survive the remaining rounds. Losing HP lowers the end multiplier, so healing turns into points. Each Boss has a modifier every week, and the modifier decides the deck: this week's, with the creators' decks, are in the Club Points Race guide. From the old Boss Battle, the wiki has two cases on record with full decks: 34 thousand points with Lychee Babe, under a rule that made purchases 67% cheaper, and the Orange Bros clone trick with Archmandrake, under a rule that removed the highest-ATK Minion at the end of each round. That rule came back in the week of Nov 3, in Queen Wasp's Star Shower modifier. The Bosses page lists each one's ability.
FAQ
Is the Battle Pass worth Diamonds? The wiki doesn't give purchase advice. What we can say is that the season's strong cards tend to come from it: Chuckleberry, tier S in the simulator and used in 15 of 34 strong decks, is from the Sea Rebel season Battle Pass.
Does losing a win streak cost Trophies? The streak only resets the consecutive-win bonus. The tutorial doesn't say how many Trophies each loss costs.
