Thornmelon
Thornmelon is a cost 3 card in Plants on Fire. Rarity: Legendary.
- Whenever its Captain takes damage in battle, deals 200%/240%/280% damage to all enemies, then reduces its own ATK by 45%.
In practice
Thornmelon deals 200%/240%/280% damage to all enemies whenever your Commander takes damage, but loses 45% ATK (Oct 27 patch numbers; at level 12 it reaches 360%/400%/440%, loses 35% and gains +20% ATK every Ready). It has 18 ATK and a 4 s interval. It works as early defense and control, and it pairs with Boom Shroom, which also spends Commander HP. Tier C in PvP. Available in the Season Recruitment.

How star fusion works
2 copies at the same ★ merge into 1 copy at the next ★. 4★ only exists in Rumble Chess. In regular Co-op, your partner's Minions get a blue star and don't merge with yours. How it works
- Triggers: at the start of each round, with the shop open.
- Who it affects: all enemies on the field.

Wiki deduction from the official text: One costs your Commander HP and the other gains from it (ATK per missing HP, damage when the Commander is hurt), or heals what the other spends.

What the community says
CSituational
Explodes on every enemy whenever your Commander takes damage, including damage you deal yourself (Boom Shroom, Jack-o'-Licks). But each explosion takes 45% of its ATK for good (since the Oct 27 patch; from level 8 it never drops below 2/4/8): it pays off in one bad round and then fades. In the deck builder, swapping Apple Sheriff for it in the low HP deck drops the score from 56 to 27, because Boom Shroom burns the explosions early.
